Five Christian YouTubers I think you ought to check out

“What?! He’s making lists now?” Yep, you bet I am. As if there weren’t enough bandwagons left for me to jump onto… Okay, but in all seriousness I was inspired to make this post after reflecting on all the awesome Christian YouTube channels I’ve been watching recently, and the overall epicness of their content. It really is inspiring to see what the Lord’s been up to in this small community, and I’m sure He’ll keep doing great things through people like these.

These aren’t in any particular order, and the main reason I chose them is because their subscriber counts are generally quite low (around or below 5000), so I feel like they could maybe do with a little more attention. Obviously there are more channels out there than these, but if I had to list them all we’d be here for quite a long time. All I can say is, if you’re into the likes of Jefferson Bethke, Blimey Cow and Katie Gregoire, then these guys are more than worthy of your subscription. So without further ado, let’s take a look at them…

5) FarAwayDistance (Becca)

When Becca calls her fans ‘Beautiful people’, you don’t ever get the impression she’s faking it. Indeed, one of the things I love about her content is her consistently positive attitude, and the vibe this gives to each of her uploads. If you ever find yourself in need of an emotional or spiritual lift, throw on one of Becca’s videos and let the angst slowly dissipate. Not only that, but she can give some pretty solid advice on things like reading Scripture and sharing your faith, which I can also say I’ve learned a good bit from.

4) Gamerfaith (Caleb)

As his channel’s name suggests, Caleb’s goal is to share Christ through the medium of video games, and he sure does it well. Despite the fact I’m not a huge gamer myself, I’ve always found something to appreciate in his videos. Whether you’re a relatively new believer or a more experienced one, Caleb’s content ought to be accessible enough. (Also, every once in a while he’s been known to collaborate with other names on this list, in great long Bible study videos – which are a lot cooler and more helpful than I’m making them sound.)

3) Kelly Carolini

Although she describes her videos as ‘Christian Girl Vlogs’, Kelly’s content can almost certainly be enjoyed no matter your sex. If you’re one of those types who, like me, is still trying to figure out what a relationship with Jesus is supposed to look like, then I reckon some of her uploads could prove particularly useful. With tips on everything from prayer to family life to dealing with Christianity’s critics (and plenty of quirky edits to boot), there’s little denying Kelly’s ability to prescribe advice for many a grey area of Christian living. That it’s all coming from somebody not that much older than me is amazing…

2) OnceUponAChurch (Jacky)

Jacky claims to have been a Christian for over 20 years, which is far longer than I can claim to have been one. Regardless, his content is darn good for what it is, mixing bitesize theology, refreshing satire and relatable youth energy into a fine, fine product. In one video, he illustrates Jacob’s fight with God in Genesis 32, by acting out some Star Wars and then explaining the similarities. You just can’t make this up – but somehow Jacky did!

1) Yumi

Last but by no means least, Yumi is another vlogger whose advice on real-life issues is honestly second-to-none. While a few of her videos do end up going over my head (like this one), most of them have been just what I was looking for. In particular, I admire her willingness to talk about fairly touchy subjects such as cheating. But of course, as with the other names on this list, I can only do so much justice to her channel; the only way to fully get what it’s like is to check it for yourself. So what you waiting for?

  1. Hi Nat, your words got around from readers to Caleb at GamerFaith to me. I don’t know how to describe it, but I feel humbled. When I think about how you are on this same journey of discovering what walking with Jesus looks like, how you are unveiling all of this, talking about it boldly and sharing it as you grow…is beautiful. I thank God that I get to see these tiny glimpses of how He uses something as tiny as a video, to connect me with a brother or sister somewhere in this world. Thank you for including me in your list, knowing that you watch and learn a little with them, is my favorite part. Keep expressing yourself, and digging into your faith!
ps: I’ll pass this along to Becca (if she doesn’t know it already hahaha)

    1. Thanks for the kind words Kelly! Yeah, it is great to think that you guys and others are bringing the Church closer together by what you do. Keep it up! (btw, I shared this with most of the guys on the list via Twitter, I would’ve mentioned you but I didn’t know if you have Twitter heh)
